Can You Scratch a Mole Off?
Do you have a mole that is driving you nuts and you just want it removed? The first thing you need to do when this is the case is to make sure that the mole is not cancerous. Most times this can be verified just by looking at the size, color and shape, however having it looked at by a dermatologist is always recommended. Mole removal is possible through the method of scratching them off. Many dermatologist can prescribe a cream, some of which can be found over the counter to be used on the mole once it has been scratched with a emery file. Make sure that the cream is proven to be effective and that you are not allergic to any of its ingredients. Once you are confident that it will not harm you, only then should you scratch the mole off your skin.
So how do you go about scratching a mole off? Many of the creams that are available for purchase over the counter have easy to follow instructions. Here are the steps that are a part of the process of easy mole removal:
1. Wash the skin with soap and water and put antibacterial solution on the area to be scratched.
2. Use clean toothpick or emery board as provided in the package for the scratching of mole. Scratch only the entire mole surface and not the skin surrounding the mole. Scratch the mole hard (do not poke) so as the cream will completely penetrate the mole surface but not too hard that it would cause the skin to bleed. If bleeding occurs, wait the blood to stop before applying the cream.
3. Stir the cream thoroughly with the provided applicator. Do not use an ordinary applicator that may contaminate the solution or infect the mole.
4. After scratching the mole surface, apply a small amount of cream using the provided applicator. Make sure that the mole surface is covered with a thin layer of cream. Avoid applying the cream to any part of the skin surrounding the mole.
5. Let the cream work on until 20 minutes. Five to ten minutes of strong stinging sensation is normal. Mole would turn darker in color and skin around the mole would normally swell. If no stinging sensation is felt, scratch the mole deeper and reapply a small amount of the cream to let it penetrate the surface.
6. After twenty minutes, wash the cream from the skin mole, especially from the skin around the mole. It would be better to use antibacterial soap or cleansing solution to wash the skin. This would not only prevent infection; it would also helps the scar to disappear faster.
7. Generally moles that are flat only require one treatment, whereas raised moles may require repetition of procedures or wait until the scab fall off from the mole before repeating the procedures.
8. A scab will normally appear after one or two days. Let it fall off by itself and avoid removing the scab prematurely. You can use aloe vera or antibiotic cream to wash the area.
9. In seven to ten days the scab will fall off naturally and completely. Pink or red tissue is normal after the scab falls off from the mole. If any of the mole remains at that point you can repeat the process as necessary.
